Prince Mlimandlela Ndamase Officially Enters The Mayoral Race

Prince Mlimandlela Ndamase has officially entered the race to become the mayor of King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality. He was announced by General Holomisa, president of the United Democratic Movement, in a packed marque on the grounds of the Rotary Stadium in Mthatha this afternoon. KSD covers Mthatha and includes Mqanduli and Coffee Bay.

Holomisa, his deputy president Nqabayomzi Kwankwa, Ndamase and other UDM leaders arrived shortly after noon and were welcomed by wild cheers from members and supporters, who were clad in the traditional white, yellow, green and red party colors.

"We are gathered here, not merely for a political meeting...we are here to give the people of Mthatha an alternative. We are not entering these elections to repeat the mistakes of those who came before us," Holomisa told the gathering.

He urged their candidates to remain close to the people, always listen to their cries and to keep people informed. Making the announcement under the #ZangeKubeNje slogan, Holomisa said the decision to take the provision of water from KSD to OR Tambo District Municipality has deprived people of this municipality a much-needed basic service. "People must see the value of their money. They pay rates at the end of the day," he said.

Ndamase, addressing the crowds for the first time as the UDM mayoral candidate, said the party was approaching these elections with the full knowledge that the country needs fixing. "We see people destroying what is already there. We are here to fix that. We are here to stop corruption and to make the basics work," he said.

"We are here to cleanse the system of corruption. We want this municipality to give opportunities to people, who are qualified and skilled."

The local government elections will be held on November 4.
